Breakfast was at the hotel, which Dave claimed was the best ever. He shot off to recce an intricate scenic route out of the city, but one that was within Thorpys abilities.
We got on the way about 9am, and wound our way through a myriad of small streets, and wooden bridges (I'll post a video when I have trimmed it to size). The mornings roads were excellent, winding across open farmland interspersed with vineyards.
We stopped for lunch by the side of a river where loads of youngsters were rafting ... very scenic, even if a bit overpriced.....
Dave had re-jigged the route that morning and found us some great little forest roads, which were fun until about 4pm, when the rain clouds gathered and took aim at us ...
The pace was slowing a bit in the afternoon probably due to a combination of tiredness, bends, and a wet road surface, so I took the liberty to take the lead, hoping Dave might follow. In fairness. he was tending the flock, so I ended up ahead and first to the hotel.
That evening we walked out and quenched our thirst in the first corner cafe we found. However we failed to appreciate time was getting on, and food options were running out. By the time we had tried upmteen establishments, all showing closed, or with the lights out, we ran back the to the starting point just in time to order the last 4 slices of Pizza, from a somewhat grumpy server who thought her chores were finished for the night.
Washed down with the last beer for the night, we were in bed by a respectable 10.30pm.
Domalize ... don't forget to pack sandwiches !
