Its a fair cop .... or was it ?

Breakfast was taken n the Pekcan hotel which served an amazing selection of food, and I think most of us rated this place as one of the better nights.

Dave had a route planned towards Denzali, but thought he would justify the purchase of his KTM at every opportunity, and took us along a gravel track that was supposed to connect to the main highway, and our route.  I dont think many us enjoy such a brutal awakening, and things got worse when the connection (in fairness, it is shown on the map) would have involved a hill climb then a wheelie over the armco.....

Now Thorpys skillset is developing fast, but this was a bridge too far.  So retracing our steps, we went around, rejoined the highway, and were on our way.

Maybe we were subcontiously hurrying, and then the inevitable happened ....

We were sure we were under the posted 110 kmph, and the ticket confirmed 104 kmph.  Further interrogation reveled the fact that Motorbikes are only allowed to do 100.  Nowhere in all our travels through Turkey have we seen that on a sign anywhere.  Ah well, a £21 fine each was levied. which we had pregreed would come out of the kitty.

So carrying on, we did a few mountain roads which ended up with us stopping for a coffee in a tiny village with a market going on.  Got invited to join the locals in "nicotine city", for our coffee,. This turned out to be Chi (tea).  Some help from the chap who joined us, resulted in some Pepsi Cola.

It turned out he was the Mayor of the town, and insisted on paying four our drinks.  A few thousand handshakes later, we finally got on our way again. Dave exchanged emails, and now they are the best of friends.

Moving on, in the rather excessive heat, we regrouped at a Petrol station with an hour to go.  Dave wanted to go via some Springs, but the fair option for those of a less robust nature, was to head straight to the hotel, the quickest way possible.

Dave reported the Springs were full of tourists, so didnt stop ... meanwhile, we had loads of refreshment stops, which resulted in us arriving after Dave.

Now the evening posed a challenge .... find a restaurant that served beer.  We failed.

So enjoyed a great Turkish meal, finished off with ice cream, but alas, no beer.  Agreeing that it really was the "right thing" to have one night off the booze, we hit the sack at a relativly early 1030pm.
