Lake Garda, by accident

To finish last nights meal story, in our attempt to understand the electronic menus, we figured the zero cost by each item, meant it was damn expensive, only to be revealed when the bill came.  Naturally we were all a bit frugal with the ordering.

Imagine our surprise when the bill did come, and we had been charged £25 each for a buffet night ... we cud have stuffed our faces had we known.  In a last ditch attempt, at reconciliation, we managed to tack a few coffees and sorbets onto the end of the night, to at least feel less cheated.

Breakfast buffet at the hotel was good, and helped fill the empty bellys.... we headed out onto an "unexpected" toll road, but did cover 80 miles quite quickly .... until the exit came and we realised Thorpy had not got his "on" ticket.  So we blocked a lane for 15 minutes while the Italian toll collecter came out with loads of paperwork to sign before we were let on our way.

Then to cap it off, the lads pulled off without me seeing which way they went ... I guessed but got it wrong.  Turns out we had both got it wrong, if that makes sense.  Having given up hope, I pulled into a fuel station to formulate a plan, only to see Dave's smiley face as I turned to put the nozzle in the tank.

Quick coffee, then Dave settles the bill, full of hand gestures ....well it is Italy ...

Great roads followed, with the only highlight being Neil almost being taken out by a car turning left as he was overtaking it !

Our path took us to Lake Garda, where a hugh accident had blocked the road around the lake ... after a bit of lane splitting and pavement riding we were through, to enjoy a relativly empty highway from then on.  The Gopro quit again, so hopefully Dave has some footage I can add later.

The twisty roads caused Thorpy to suffer from the "bends" ... and I don't mean decompression sickness.

Had a cracking lunch at a Pizzaria high in the mountains, which was surprisingly good value for money.

Lake Garda was awesome, as was the tiny newly surfaced single track road that wound high around the Eastern end.  Managed to grab a few stills on the rare occasion Dave pulled over.

More cracking roads finished off the day, with a final blast on a virtually new autostrada.

Staying in a old, but restored original building in Treviso tonight.  So far, very impressed.

Wandered out to find a bar .... the evening tooks promising.
