You ain't coming in 'ere

After a superb breakfast at our B&B, we headed out, did a loop, and were back at the hotel .... navigation functions were not yet fully operational in our leader.  But in fairness, he had reworked the route to avoid the tollroads, so allowances were made.

The roads east became staight and busy, with the Prosecco vinyards lining the route.  With the amount of traffic, I think Dave made the decision to leave everyone to their own devices.  Without the new route in my GPS,  I hung onto his shirt-tails, but eventually we all became fairly spread out.  However, once we had first sight of the Adriatic sea, Dave pulled in and one by one, the lone bikers regrouped ....

We flew through Trieste, mostly on the raised motorway that skirts the Southern side, and then headed into the hills, and through the Slovenian border, marked by a simple sign ...

Next stop, were some views of Trieste, and a mountain fort called Grad Socerb,  A few obligatory pics were taken and we headed back down the hill towards the Croation border.

So next was the border, where a couple of pretty things came out and checked Daves credentials.  They scurried back in to the boss, who came out and simply said "You aint coming in thru here".

We stll dont know why, but had to retrace our steps about 20km, and head in on an alternate road.  Stopped for a bite before hitting the real border.

It was a fairly simple affair with just a scowl, and a stamp in the passport, and were on our way into Croatia.  Strange affair as I think it was the in and out point for Slovenia, as 100 mts on, the Croation border was abandoned with just a welcome sign to any UK or other EU nationals confirming free passage.

The roads in Croatia are excellent, but didnt stop our fearless leader suddenly finding a 2km section of gravel track just to keep us on our toes.  That led us to our first photo opportunity next to the turquoise waters of Croatia..

And with that we sped onto our "bijou apartment" that Dave had booked for the night .... it had a view to die for,,,, which we tooks turns at doing !

With the bikes chained up, Novi Vinosomething, here we come !
